Killing Time- It just won't die

Almost there, just need to collect a few books and bits to keep me busy during the flight to Atlanta. I've got my compulsory charity shop novel, something about mathematicians, love and the ultimate formula.
In preparation for a hell of a lot of driving about, I'm re-watching Searching for the Wrong Eyed Jesus. Easily one of my favourite films and a must watch for anyone interested in music, cinematography or just getting a glimpse of the Deep South.

There isn't much of a plan, first and last hotels are booked and the other 12 nights or so will be spent in Nashville, Memphis, New Orleans and who knows elsewhere. I've got my eye on the brooks Museum in Memphis to see the Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History exhibition and a few musically historical sites but other than that we'll do what we feel like when we get there.

Can't drink tea in America

Busy doing my part for the trip to America, my family now have personalised luggage tags. I'm so useful!
I passed my first year of uni (I think... but I won't go into that) and have moved back home for the Summer. I've missed the place but can't imagine that it's doing me any good, feels like forgetting how to put my tie on in primary school after the holidays. Hopefully a month in the new flat before lectures actually start will set me straight.

As usual, a lack of any particular aim has lead me to a sudden spurt in creativity which often leads to pointless doodles. I decided to heavily refine this Art Nouveau inspired one and I'm currently in the process of adding colour. I fear I'll never be happy with the colours and either give up or overwork it. Oh well, Herp Derp.

Speaking of inspiration, going to try and turn this blog around.* Inspiration has been plaguing my thoughts recently so I figure I'll make a nest for it here, dragging odds and ends over and eventually shipping it to anyone who's interested in my spicy jambalaya of oddness! HUZZAH!

On a side note, I'm currently watching 'The Promise' while my dad irons (because that's how we roll) and I'm having a WTF seizure. It's not of the Lewes or Uzumaki variety of weird but the whole thing is making me rather queasy. Probably due to the poorly rendered graphics.

Anyway, queue montage music while I figure out how I'm going to jazz this up and then make myself lunch. Omnomnom.

* If it goes tits up we can all blame Imogen

You'll take it on the chin.

I didn't have anything much against Hadouken until my flat mate got his new speakers. I care not that they go up to 11.
I've decided that I'll only procrastinate by ranting/blogging (same difference), if I accompany it with sketches and the like, hence the following:
Quite obviously- pirate girl and beast. I like to think the Program Design Lectures are a decent environment for creative pursuits. The amount I know about Program Design however- may disagree.
These were done at the beginning of January, a bit of practice with Pose Maniacs. Click for big titties.

So, we have a house. Well, in six months we have a house to rent even though we have to pay £650 now... but I'm sure there are good reasons for that. I have to keep reminding myself that the transport links are good, the rooms are well ventilated and there's a gas cooker/conservatory/dishwasher as well- just to keep the nagging thoughts away, "did we rush into this?"
My heart and mind are fighting at the moment, but my gut says it was the right decision- unless I just made a dodgy frittata.
It wasn't that long ago that I woke up knowing I'd made a wrong decision the night before, my heart felt heavy and I awoke with a frown. Fortunately this decision was righted in a matter of hours and didn't cost me a £300 deposit. So far I have yet to wake up with this feeling concerning the house, if anything- I just want to wake up there instead of here. Here being my prison-like room with a draft and fastened desk. And flat mates who talk about you while you're there. And mountains of unwashed dinnerware that's yours but you didn't use. And people on the roof the night before deadlines. And a neighbor who plays their limited music collection all the way up to 11.

Tentacles : A Memoir

This week has been all about how to most efficiently create a mountain from a molehill. Whether it be my lack of organisation or decisions made whilst inebriated- I just can't seem to keep track of anything.
Drawing my attention from this for a while, I put together a quick illustration for the poem Lullaby over at Sore Jig. Although the image below isn't quite true to the content, it has its charm. Think more Alien than hentai.

I should probably get back to doing actual work now but the pull of creating a custom blog template is incredibly tempting. I just about have enough stamina left to tidy up the place so I shall see where my heart lies after that...

And lo' She returned to the blogiverse.
For no particular reason.
Than to see that time has passed.

Blimey, four years. Odd to think that things have changed- it used to be that I'd worry about getting a decent grade for my diagram of a volcano and seeing if I could wrangle a lift home for 11 rather than 10.
Four years later and I've gained a place at university, a debit card, more secrets and greater understanding of what I could never know.
Here's to another four years, hopefully I'll gain a degree, debt, whispers and even greater understanding (and maybe even a little bit of blogging in between ;)

What does one usually ramble on about when blogging? I guess first I shall rant about the complete lack of space for the input of music on the profile page. So inconsiderate.

So what have I got to work with- I'm halfway through the Easter holidays and I haven't even touched my coursework. I'm doomed. On the other hand I have at least 3 things to look forward to in the next week.
  1. 11th- London trip with friends (originally 12th but green wing prevailed)
  2. 14th- Friend's birthday party- bad films, good food and llamas to be included (postponed until further notice)
  3. 16th- Catsfest- another birthday party but less llamas and films, more alcohol and bands (including The Flavonoids of which I drum for)

Not forgetting the cheesecake I made that resides in the fridge of course.
